Paper structure (current syllabus)
| Paper | Title | Time | Marks | Weighting |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Non-calculator (Core) | 1 h 30 min | 80 | 50% |
| 2 | Non-calculator (Extended) | 2 h | 100 | 50% |
| 3 | Calculator (Core) | 1 h 30 min | 80 | 50% |
| 4 | Calculator (Extended) | 2 h | 100 | 50% |
Core candidates take Papers 1 and 3 (grades C–G). Extended candidates take Papers 2 and 4 (grades A*–E).
Papers from 2023 and 2024 follow the previous syllabus, where all four papers allowed a calculator and the lengths and marks were different. They are still excellent practice, but expect a calculator to be needed.

What is in the library
For each series we hold one variant of every paper, usually variant 2 (for example 0580/22). For May/June 2024 we use variant 1, the papers Cambridge publishes on its own website. Paper codes read as paper number then variant: 0580/42 is Paper 4, variant 2. Different variants of the same paper are set to the same standard, so any of them is good practice.
How to practise with past papers
- Start with single questions on the topics you find hardest and check each answer against the mark scheme.
- Then sit full papers under timed conditions and mark them strictly with the mark scheme.
- Keep a list of lost marks and redo those questions a week later.
