IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606 Tutor
Specialist lessons in Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606) with Dr. Rizwan Jahangir, online and in person. Additional Maths is the step between IGCSE and A Level, and it is taught here as exactly that.
Why Additional Maths feels different
0606 introduces ideas that most students first meet at A Level: function notation and inverses, logarithms and exponentials, radian measure, series, two-dimensional vectors and calculus. The algebra is heavier and less familiar than in IGCSE Mathematics, so method has to be secure, not memorised.
The exam at a glance
| Paper | Length | Marks | Weighting | Calculator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper 1 | 2 hours | 80 | 50% | Not allowed |
| Paper 2 | 2 hours | 80 | 50% | Scientific calculator required |
There are no tiers: every candidate sits both papers and is eligible for grades A* to E. Both papers have structured and unstructured questions on any part of the content, and the syllabus requires candidates to show all necessary working. The non-calculator Paper 1 was introduced in this syllabus, so exact values, surds and clean algebra matter more than ever.
Syllabus topics
1 Functions · 2 Quadratic functions · 3 Factors of polynomials · 4 Equations, inequalities and graphs · 5 Simultaneous equations · 6 Logarithmic and exponential functions · 7 Straight-line graphs · 8 Coordinate geometry of the circle · 9 Circular measure · 10 Trigonometry · 11 Permutations and combinations · 12 Series · 13 Vectors in two dimensions · 14 Calculus
How lessons work
- Algebra first: fluency with manipulation underpins every topic, so weak algebra is fixed early.
- Topic by topic, then mixed: students learn each topic, then practise questions that combine several, as the papers do.
- Unstructured questions: we practise planning a solution when the question gives no steps.
- A Level bridge: for students heading to A Level Mathematics 9709, topics are taught with the next stage in mind.
